elizabeth: Happy Birthday Oprah. What a day that must have been for you. Caught your show and
congratulations on your new puppies. My brother and his family just got two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels – Sammy and Riley. I think Sunny and Lauren would like a playdate with them. We can bring them to the photo shoot for the cover of O Magazine. But I think my six cats and yellow lab may have something to say if they don’t get on the cover. Something like, “I know you loved that sofa but now no one can sit on it.”
Laurie: Oprah, I have no problem NOT sharing the cover with cats and dogs and any other four-legged creatures elizabeth drums up. I am willing to share the cover with you and elizabeth, but one of those parties is negotiable. I will leave it to your imagination as to which one. But of course this is only if push came to shove (I can be a very good shover if necessary).
elizabeth: Psssst… Lauire. Oprah is a BIG animal lover and we just might be missing you at the photo shoot. Meow.
I like that your birthday gift from all of us is about saving lives. I go nuts when I see people texting because they could kill me or someone I love. That is not acceptable to me. You are right about those little wake-up calls we get. I have not had close calls, but maybe a second or two off the big picture in front of me. And I catch myself thinking this is not good. And it is not. So I will sign the Phone Free Zone pledge saying that I won’t talk on the phone while driving. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. Don’t know how to text and it is not on my list of things to learn.
Laurie: One exception – should you call Lovely Oprah and we happen to be on the road, we will take your call. We will shoot the car into the first free lane we find, pull over to the side, jump out of the car, and dance on the median strip. All other calls will be ignored. We promise.
elizabeth: If you would like to save the life of someone you love, please check out Oprah’s site and take a look at the sweet faces that are no longer here. Then click on the Phone Free Zone pledge form and make a difference. The life you save could be your own. Or mine. Or Laurie’s. Or Oprah’s. Phone Free Zone Pledge
