Laurie: Oprah, elizabeth and I were sitting around talking the other day as we ate our healthy lunches and surreptitiously scarfed down overlay_omagazine2well-done French fries and tortilla chips.  The discussion naturally evolved to when we were going to be on the cover of O Magazine, and we realized with a shock (not really) that we both wanted to shed a couple of pounds before the Big Event.  I will pause here so that elizabeth can deny that she ate tortilla chips.

elizabeth: I only had a few chips, but I noticed that you left the waitress your fries as a tip. Thank God I had my Jackie O sunglasses on so I was able to leave the diner without being identified. Or pummeled to death.

Laurie: Anyway, I came up with a brilliant idea if I do say so myself.  The lovely elizabeth (I only do that because I know it drives her crazy) and I are going on the Oprah Diet.  No, that doesn’t mean we are going to consume nothing but powered drink for six months or hire Bob Greene away from you.  Our Oprah Diet will be the Coaches on the Edge stripping off 20 pounds in any imaginative and effective way they can in anticipation of our big photo shoot.  And each Wednesday as we torture – oops!  I meant “remind” – you that we are waiting, we will reveal how successful we were that week in reaching our goal.  So I will start this off by revealing that I lost zero pounds while writing this blog.

elizabeth: So besides begging, making our case every Wednesday about our grumpy faces being on the cover of O (what do you expect – we will be no longer be on sugar highs), we will be letting Oprah, Bob Greene and the free world know how well we are doing shedding those winter pounds? I’d like to buy a vowel and a body double.

I think just pondering about what I was going to write took 37 calories so only 3663 calories to go before I lose a pound. Damn.  I think I am going to put being on the cover of O in my will. I may not live that long.
