Laurie: Oprah, my March issue of O Magazine arrived today. You looked lovely on the cover of course, but imagine my surprise when I
turned the issue over and there on the back cover was Ellen DeGeneres! Now granted, this was an advertisement for both Olay and Cover Girl (you would think that between her show and American Idol she wouldn’t have time for extra activities), but I am sure you can see the inequity of the situation. Ellen has graced your cover front and back while in the wings you have two edgy coaches awaiting the call from your photographers.
elizabeth: I have to agree with Laurie this time. While we could have modeled some of those fabulous shoes Oprah wants to auction off (and we would not have dared to absconded with a pair for ourselves without writing a hefty check- no guarantee that it won’t bounce) those poor neglected shoes laid there – unwanted, ignored and gathering dust. I think the world is ready to see my calves in a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Note to the masses: don’t try using red sharpies to make your soles red – it comes off on the dog. And Ellen, Ellen, Ellen – there was plenty of room for us on the back cover. Cover Gil could have used 3 Cover Girls on the back cover.
Laurie: I’m going to go so far as to bet that Ellen doesn’t even need the money she received from the Olay/Cover Girl advertisement. Whereas elizabeth could use a few extra bucks for her impromptu animal shelter, and I happen to live in the most expensive city in the world and am still paying off a ridiculously costly car that I don’t even need. Who can help bereft animals and the auto industry in one fell swoop? It’s you, girlfriend. One little cover (front or back), and the Coaches on the Edge will be off and running.
elizabeth: We just might want to volunteer to be on the cover of O, don’t you think? I don’t think Michele Obama or Ellen took even a pittance to be on the cover with Ms. Winfrey. I think our money will come in the form of getting our own show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. Yeah, I’d like to see Ms Cover Girl DeGeneres get a show on that network. Well, if she does, I am so down with being the opening act before her show starts. I am so open to everything. Including a pair of Christian Louboutin heels. Size 9.5.
