There has been a lot of talk about suicide by bullying and now suicide by gay. The events of the pass few months have been horrendous. Tyler Clementi, the freshmen from Rutgers, who felt that life was not worth it after his roommate decided to out him to the world (is this replacing sports and drinking at colleges?), jumped off the George Washington Bridge last week. It’s always the wrong kids who jump.
What are we doing to our children – gay or straight? We are losing our hope. We are losing what could have been the peacemakers in our world.
I want to thank Ellen who proclaimed on her show ”ENOUGH” the day after Tyler said no to a life full of potential. It has always been “ENOUGH.” But now we need to put the bullies on notice.
Rest in Peace.

I was bullied as a kid. I was spat upon by 2 girls, Madia and Valerie, who thought it was a funny thing to do whenever they saw me. I had cruel words hurled in my direction and I was chased home by the boy bullies in our school. I was also bullied by some of my teachers because I was “different.” I am dyslexic which meant “dummy” back then. Nobody tried to help – I was just being lazy and lazy led to being abused – verbally and physically.
I developed armor and it started to hurt less as I got older. But I could not let people in. Still have that problem. All because of the bullies and adults who diminished me because I was better than them. That is how I see it now. I had a spark, creativity and talent that was left out of their gene pool. So they resorted to brutalizing anyone they came into contact with.

I ran into some bullies in the workplace. Some showed all the makings of a schoolyard bully with breasts and I remember going home in tears because I could not defend myself. You can’t tell your bosses to go screw themselves and keep your job. But I would like to speak to them today and say – go screw yourself. You know who you are and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I was not the only victim who littered their path of destruction. So I say this for all of us.
Your gig is up.
Let us stand up to the bullies and put them on notice. While we are at it, put their parents on notice. These kids didn’t come into the world as bullies. They had to be taught.
To all our children that took the lonely route out of life, I am so sorry that we made the world too harsh, too unforgiving for you. Rest in peace. It is our greatest shame.
Your gig is up.

turned the issue over and there on the back cover was Ellen DeGeneres! Now granted, this was an advertisement for both Olay and Cover Girl (you would think that between her show and American Idol she wouldn’t have time for extra activities), but I am sure you can see the inequity of the situation. Ellen has graced your cover front and back while in the wings you have two edgy coaches awaiting the call from your photographers.
